Origins

A relatively new concept on GMG, ARG's were first popularized by an unofficial one created by AkujiTheSniper. Noodle would later follow in suit with a more refined, official ARG. While noodle's version of the ARG had a nicer design and had more interaction, the unoffical one focused more on the story of Tunnels.

Story

On 27 July 2011 AkujiTheSniper made a topic named "Akuji Update 2". This update was his ideas for the servers. After a few comments he started to have problems with glitched words. "Alright guys, just give me an ho҉uŗ or so get up the last day ͜òf͟ my u͜pdàte̕, I̧'̛m̶̀ s͟͏͢ưr̴̡e ̛͟y͏ó̵͟͞͝u̧͘͞͡'̶͟͢͞ļ͟l͘͜͢͞ ҉͠a̕͏l̶̢͘͏l̡̡̢͠ ̶̡͠͞l̶͢i̶̴̵̧k̷̛e͏̢͘ ̧͘͢҉̶i̡t̶͢͠͝.̢͢͞͡".

On 28 of July he found the problem. This was jammed into his feed. Akuji gave a hint that they need to look for a morse code in this picture. A person who named Darklight took over Akuji's steam account. He showed pictures of Akuji and tunnels related pictures. This was mostly done in a chat with Darklight and DatTojo. He showed all information that he got on the Akuji Update 2 page.

On 29 of July a picture was posted on the Akuji Update 2 page. There the other forum members started to get more information.

On 30 July the ARG was over. Akuji returned and the information that was obtained was about the Tunnels monster and the past of Tunnels. The Tunnels v20 is in the ARG of noodle

On 31 July DatTojo made a topic named "H̛̺̮̞̭ͨ̐eͯ̏̓ͫͨͮ́l̜̳͒p̶̯̘ͨ͗̇͗̑͒ͅ". This was the start of the offical ARG.

A new forum section was made named "The End". There was a brownish earth and sometimes showed the word "!pack". This was the offical ARG made by Noodle. The End was a locked forum section. Only those with a password could enter. The first 4 who got in here won the ARG. They got a sneak preview of Tunnels_v20. Members who won the ARG:

  • Noodle said "All packages have been successfully delivered." (?)
  • Noodle said "One last chance". A little later he removed his hint
  • Schizo found a code(source) "sm_363b122c"
  • Schizo found out that the code led to Ticket.
  • Neely and Hyruliant got into the locked forum "The End"
  • Going on a GMG server in TF2 when you got "ACCESS GRANTED. ACCOUNT <username> TAGGED.". You could randomly get a glitch. Your viewmodel was flipped upside down and you got a white noise with spinning colours. When you opened the chatbox while this was happing, it was spammin "127".
  • Every account that has gotten "ACCESS GRANTED. ACCOUNT <username> TAGGED." got an Dystopian ticket (possibly everyone a Contributor item version of it). When used your got the glitch explained above. The Contributor version has changed into a normal item and is said to be removed later.
