Tunnel Achievements
Click here to check the status of Tunnels and connect.
Tunnel Achievements is much like an industrialized version of Chambers, for it is much more concentrated on achievement farming. However, it can still serve as a place to socialize. Back in the earlier versions of this map, Tunnels didn't have things such as pre - built dispensers. It has since grown into a larger map with more features. See the article on maps in general here. (Current Status: V.23)

Areas
Tunnels, like Chambers, has a variety of areas for the player to access.
Bot Room
The main part of Tunnels. The bot room houses several bots which can be useful for aiding in generally easy achievements. They are differentiated from players by a green glow depending on their health, stunned and on a moving conveyor belt. A control point is also located inside the room, useful for achievements requiring kills from or on a CP.
Main Area
The main part of the map you will encounter after leaving the spawn areas. This yard is known for being 'The Hangout Spot' where people meet, socialize and do generic achievements. The Horseless Headless Horsemann spawns in the mini graveyard located in the middle, which is useful for doing the Halloween Achievements. The Horsemann does not move and therefore will not kill you unless you get in melee range of it. There is also an elevated room located nearby with respawning dispensers for each team, as well as a well concealed medkit and ammo pack behind the building.
Achievement Room
This area contains a resupply locker, as well as Hurt Pads which, when stood on, hurts you overtime. The pads are covered with small health-kits to prevent the user standing on it from dying. There are two intelligence briefcases in the back useful for Capture the Flag achievements. A conveyor belt located further back is very useful for achievements for having to run an amount of time or meters. Also contains a cosmetic rocket, which does nothing at all.
Fire-pit / Water pool
This area contains a fire pit which, upon jumping into, kills you automatically. This Fire-pit is useful for some achievements which require "Environmental Death's" such as "Fall Classic". The Dystopian can also reach you and brutally slaughter you in the case that you do manage to survive. The other half of the area is a pool of water, which is very useful for achievements involving water.
Sewers
An entrance tube, located in the main yard, takes you to the underground sewers, or 'tunnels'. A monster, named the Dystopian, roams the sewers, hunting for unsuspecting players. The Dystopian may do one of two things to you: 1. Your screen will go red and shake. Plus you will hear a roar and water will start bubbling around you. The Dystopian kills you directly afterwards. 2. Your screen will become inverted and stretch. Your screen will then shake and change colors. It is random whether or not the Dystopian will kill you after this event. (NOTE: The Dystopian is NOT a physical thing. So you cannot 'kill' him. When going into the sewers know that there is a strong chance that you will die.) When you go down into the sewers you can't come back up unless you use a sort of force (Rocket, sticky jump etc), or find one of the exits. In the dark area the water slowly drains your health, however, it is possible to survive with a level 1 Dispenser or a Medic. After you enter the dark areas and begin losing health, you keep losing health until you die or escape the tunnels.
Control Point
This area contains nothing more then a simple Control Point which can be reset by hitting the lamp in the middle.
Trivia
- There used to be a Heavy hugging Alyx in the second floor of the RED spawn. Alyx was then replaced with a Scout. Eventually, the entire area became the cargo hold in v17.
- The cargo hold has a window with a small hole in it. It was previously made so that you were able to build in it, but a later update removed this.
- There is a present hidden in the cargo room. It can be shot and moved with the +use key.
- In v16, the maintenance room used to be inaccessible to players without god mode. Unless you were able to toggle god mode on yourself, you would explode when trying to enter.
- In v16, there was a giant crack in front of BLU spawn that led to the Tunnels.
- In v16, there was a saw blade in front of BLU spawn.
- The trees are here because they were suggested by former GMG member, Arcturis.
- The "Disco Cubes" have a reputation of making the elevator leading to the Tunnels on previous versions become stuck.
- In the New Tunnels, there are 3 confirmed "ghosties" recycled from the haunted Crypts in the old versions of Chambers
- In one of the rooms that branches off from the sewers there is a gman standing in the corner, you can't see his face until you get close enough, and when you do, you die.
- The large metal doors in the beginning of the maze in the tunnels section leads to the Dystopian Haystack.
- One of the Halloween updates made the Monoculus grow stronger each time he respawns, and since his ability to leave was removed, there can sometimes be multiple Monoculuses at level 50+, making it near impossible to take them both down.
- There is a pond by the red teams spawn that The Dystopian can reach and kill you in, or roar at you. This has been discovered by Combustible Lemons, but so far attempts to recreate the dying event have been unsuccessful (only the roars have been heard).
- Players used to be able to build at each end of the conveyor belt as well as the water tanks inside the bot room. After lots of complaints, bans and grief, Noodle patched the map so buildings cannot be built anywhere inside the bot room.
- Behind the doors leading to the Dystopian Haystack, if one builds a teleporter in there, and teleports into the place, they will automatically die. However, if one has a good eyesight and good timing, there will be a faint model of a Combine that's in a Civilian pose that's easier to see if one gets closer.
- In Tunnels V22, the shop keepers secret room had three Heavies around each other, with shapes on there crouch regions. (Resembling a penis)
Bugs
- Players are able to build inside the forced open metal doors around the entrance of the sewer. While they can teleport inside, they will immediately be killed.
- Players are able to build on certain pipes in the tunnels. When someone teleports, they will be forced up through the pipe and be forced to either kill themselves or stay in that area, though typing !shop and leaving is an effective way to escape.
- It is possible for the Dystopian to reach/kill a player in the pond by the red teams spawn.
- It is possible for a person to stand on the mechanical building beside the bot area, and have a person Gold Teleport. This will grant access to the top region. It is also possible to build as an engineer on that area.
